It’s all about the CBD and THC (contd…).
If you have stumbled upon this article without reading Part I, please read that first before continuing.
The CBD is Different
CBD works with the body through the endocannabinoid system, or ECS. The endocannabinoid system is responsible for keeping the body in a state of balance. It impacts the functions of sleep, mood, pain, appetite, hormone, and immune response. This system also aids your body in creating natural cannabinoids to maintain the efficiency of the receptors and optimal function of the endocannabinoid system. But CBD does more than just affect cannabinoid receptors, it affects opioid receptors, dopamine receptors to regulate aspects of cognition and behavior and Serotonin receptors to deal with problems such as Anxiety and PTSD.
Hemp Oil and CBD oil (isolated from Hemp) and CBD oil (from Marijuana) are not created equal. The average consumer does not understand this distinction and can understandably be misinformed.
We know that Hemp is a form of cannabis sativa that is grown for industrial purposes and is low in THC. Hemp oil, seen on the internet and on store shelves is simply oil extracted from hemp plants by pressing the seeds they produce. It can easily be added in food as a rich vitamin supplement. The fatty acids hemp oil contains (omega-3 and omega-6) and is one of the most beneficial health factors which can help diminish the signs of aging and improve heart health by lowering your cholesterol, preventing damage to your nerves by protecting the myelin sheath. Gamma linoleic acid, found in hemp oil, help to fight psoriasis, as well. Hemp oil itself does not have any CBD.
“CBD” from Hemp refers to oil that is “isolated” and contains a concentration of CBD, or cannabidiol. CBD oil is sometimes extracted from hemp and specifically cultivated to be high in CBD since it only contains trace amounts of THC. CBD isolate in Hemp has only has 3.5% CBD. Manufacturers of these CBD “isolates” make claims that one can experience pain relief and can cure, epilepsy, neurodegeneration, cancer, anxiety, Alzheimer’s and a host of other conditions.
CBD oil from Marijuana may have up to 20% CBD! It was previously believed that when CBD was “isolated” it was more potent and concentrated than leaving it intact as a “full spectrum.” We now know that this is false. In 2015, this theory was debunked by a study from the Lautenberg Center for General Tumor Immunology in Jerusalem when research supported that levels of relief where significantly higher when using “full spectrum” CBD. Furthermore, the study demonstrated that “full spectrum” CBD continued to provide relief as the dose increased, while CBD “isolate” did not provide the same. Even though “full spectrum” CBD has proven to be more effective than CBD “isolate” and can be used to effectively treat a wide variety of ailments, it may not be the drug of choice for some.
The average consumer is not clear on the CBD products out there and is understandably misinformed.
The Purity is Different
A huge factor which further differentiates hemp from marijuana is the number of cannabinoids and terpenes produced by each subspecies and gender. The male gender of the hemp plant contains small concentrations of cannabinoids and terpenes. Hemp is cultivated for fiber and seed production but when used to manufacture CBD products, it must be concentrated in large amounts. Since Cannabis is a bio-accumulator, if grown with pesticides or in soil that contains heavy metals, contaminants will invade.
Furthermore, most products are extracted with toxic solvents like BHO, propane, hexane or other hydrocarbons. These solvent residues are especially dangerous for immunocompromised patients. An expensive process of extraction called, supercritical CO2, is typically reserved to purify medical marijuana. Residents of NYS are fortunate to have products extracted using this technology.
Medical Marijuana is Different
Medical Marijuana in New York State is legally available to those with qualifying conditions such as, Chronic Pain, Cancer, PTSD, HIV/AIDS, Opioid Replacement and a host of other medical conditions. Ten licensed medical marijuana dispensaries with up to four locations each were given permission to operate and dispense medical marijuana in New York State. In support of their residents, NY is one of the only states to require a Pharmacist on staff in each dispensary in contrast to the “Budtender” you will find in a California or Colorado dispensary.
Medical Cannabis in NY is highly regulated and follows strict guidelines for the cultivation, manufacturing and distribution of their cannabis. Unlike un-regulated companies that sell CBD or Hemp products, medical marijuana in New York is 100% pure and free of contaminants thanks to the method of critical CO2 extraction. Furthermore, medical marijuana can be thought of as a “designer drug” because it comes in different methods of administration and ratios of THC: CBD. This allows for better control in targeting the treatable condition. Lastly, NYS requires residents who qualify to seek certification only from registered medical marijuana practitioners which include physicians, nurse practitioners and physician assistants (under supervision) either in person or via telemedicine.
I am the proud owner of Medical Marijuana Recs NY, a New York based company which provides expert medical marijuana consultative certification services via telemedicine to New York residents who have qualifying conditions for medical marijuana. My team and I will provide you with the guidance and support you need to use medical marijuana safely and will walk you step-by-step through the process of how to get certified and registered for a medical marijuana card. We follow with you to ensure success in treating your condition. My experience to date certifying several hundred patients has been overwhelmingly successful. The patients feel this way too and some are reclaiming their lives back after suffering with severe, chronic, debilitating conditions.

TESTIMONIAL (Identifier blackened for privacy).
I am a xxxxx disabled RN, who transferred my MM case to the AMAZING LAURAINE KANDERS N.P.! I have a very complicated medical/surgical history which causes me severe pain 24/7and requires me to use several pain pills per day.
During my initial consultation, Lauraine showed true empathy for me, and validated my feelings. She made clear MM recommendations for me and processed my new Certificate within an hour of our consultation. She renewed my belief that I may eventually decrease or stop my medication from Pain Management. Surprisingly, within a 3-month period, I was indeed able to make moderate progress in decreasing my pain medications. However, Ms. Kanders continued to show me her dedication, when she contacted me for a follow up to see how things were going.
Boy, was I happy she contacted me for a follow up! After I gave her an update of my symptoms and the products I’m using, she informed me that I wasn’t using the best choice for my symptoms! She then proceeded to find out the dispensary I was using, so she could advise me on the correct product for even better pain control. I was shocked because the dispensary Pharmacist incorrectly advised me on what to purchase!
LAURAINE KANDERS N.P. is a rare gem. She is kind, understanding, and extremely knowledgeable on the products available, along with their actions, combinations, and ways to safely use them for maximum comfort. I highly recommend her service!
